About
Ella Michel grew up in Fernie, BC— on the mountain, and in Black Diamond, AB— on the prairies.
She began photographing weddings of family friends at the age of 14.
Between 2014 - 2018, Ella photographed several hundred family photo sessions for a corporation and won multiple awards for natural light photography.
In 2019 she fought forest fires in Northern Alberta, but ultimately took the leap to become a free-lance photographer.
She has now photographed weddings in Halifax, Vancouver, Canmore, Ottawa, France, and was the first photographer to photograph a wedding at the Banff Springs Golf Course in 2023.
When the pandemic brought photography to a halt, Ella worked for the Society for Treatment of Autism as a Behavioural Therapist for the entirety of the pandemic. The role changed her outlook on life and the experience inspired her to re-enter university and major in Psychology. She graduated in 2025.
She continues to photograph family portraits, events, and weddings in her spare time.
She loves many things, and some of them include running, snowboarding, lacrosse, reading, Commons’ philosophy club, game nights, frisbee golf, and days in a forest.
