About

Ella Michel grew up Northwest of Crossfield, in Lethbridge, Fernie, Kelowna, and eventually, Black Diamond.

She began photographing local weddings at the age of 14.

Between 2014 - 2018 Ella photographed several hundred family photo sessions and won multiple awards for natural light photography.

She has photographed weddings in Halifax and on Vancouver Island.

In 2019 she fought forest fires in Northern Alberta, but ultimately decided to open a photography studio in 2020.

She photographed weddings and portraits full-time until the pandemic brought portrait photography to a halt.

Ella worked for the Society for Treatment of Autism as a behavioural therapist for the entirety of the pandemic, and the role changed her outlook on life. The experience caused her to re-enter university in order to major in Psychology and English.

She is still studying Psychology.

She does marketing for local brands.

She operates the Cowboy Trail Trio: Coffee Company, Music Tavern, and Record Label. It is located in Diamond Valley, AB.

She hosts dinner parties, writes poetry, goes snowboarding, and cares for her turtle, as well as hundreds of houseplants.
